Friday is the end. No, it’s not the end of the world. It’s our last Festa For All party!

This is our going away celebration, and we need your help to make it an unforgettable night.

Embassy of Brazil Polo Cup

The Embassy of Brazil, together with the Capitol Polo Club, are hosting  The Embassy of Brazil Cup a fun, open-air event. It takes place this Saturday July 30, 2011, in Poolesville, Maryland as part of the 2011 Summer Polo Season.  All proceeds from the charity match will be donated to two non-profit associations dedicated to helping Brazilian children.

All are welcome to attend the Embassy of Brazil Cup which begins at 5:30 pm, Saturday July 30, 2011 and is preceded by a club exhibition match at 4:00 pm.  Gates open at 3:30 pm.  Admission and tailgating are free and open to all.  Suggested donations will be collected to support the charities Inmed Partnerships for Children and the Abrace-Brazilian Association of Culture and Education.  A rain date is scheduled for Sunday July 31, 2011.

The event will also feature DC Choro Ensemble playing Brazilian music before and during the breaks of the match.

Al Pie de La Casa Blanca Poetry Reading

Support your local poets! Cafe Muse literary Series is hosting a bilingual poetry reading tonight in Friendship Heights.

The Spanish poetry anthology – Al pie de la Casa Blanca – Poetas hispanos de Washington, DC – is a tribute to Puerto Rican poet, Egla Morales Blouin Egla features the work of poets Luis Alberto Ambroggio, Rei Berroa, David Camero, Egla Morales Blouin, Carlos Parada Ayala, Milagros Teran and Ada Vilageliu Diaz.

Tonight’s poems will be read in Spanish and translated to English. An open mic will follow the reading. Learn more about the Cafe Muse series.

Back Porch Sunday – Brazilian & Rock En Espanol

 

The monthly Back Porch Sunday Series in Mount Pleasant, DC, will feature two Brazilian groups and a Rock/Reggae En Espanol band.

This should be a very fun as it is literally a back porch party.

 

EVENT DEETS:

Kicking-off the day with a high-impact, interactive rhythmic set from Maracatu Baque do Mangue!

Closely Followed by a set of hauntingly rich vocals on Brazilian jazz with Andrea Wood.

We’ll close the night with some punky reggae rock en espanol by Kick O Man

 

BYOB/Water and Dancing shoes. . .this is going to be good.

Circo da Bossa and ESL

Tonight the Bossa Nova Band Circo da Bossa will have a change in it’s musician line up. Cissa Paz, vocals and Pablo do Cavaco, percussion will still perform. But the band will now feature Didier Prossaird on Keys. Circo da Bossa will play from 8pm to 10pm. They Will be playing from 8 to 10 pm at The Grill From Ipanema in Adams Morgan. It will be a great environment for dinner and drinks. And at 10pm you can head to 18 St. Lounge where Soul Brazil Band will be starting up.

French pianist Didier Prossaird, has been performing in the DC-Baltimore area for the past 10 years, collaborating with salsa greats Tito Allen and Frankie Vasquez, touring the US and abroad with the Washington ballet and providing Latin andSalsa music for the hottest dance nights in the Capital. Didier is also the founder and leader of the ten-piece salsa band Sin Miedo.
